What is Myofascial Release?

Myofascia is made from two parts:
Muscle (myo), which are bands of fibrous tissue that have the ability to contract and produce movement or maintain the position of body parts.
Fascia, soft connective tissue just below the skin that wraps and connects muscles, bones, nerves and blood vessels.

3 Layers in the Myofascial System:
Superficial fascia (just beneath the skin)
Deep fascia (wraps bones, muscles and blood vessels)
Visceral fascia (suspends organs and keeps them in place)

Bodywork focuses on the deep fascia layer, reducing friction and adhesions between muscle, bone and nerves, keeping movements smooth.
When a person is pushed, pulled, and stretched, it's the (release) of tension within muscles and connective tissue (myo-fascia) causing restrictions in movement that produce the relaxed feeling.

What is Infrared Heat Therapy?

The sun produces a combination of visible and invisible light and one of those invisible spectrums is infrared rays. Invisible infrared wavelengths are what makes the sun feel warm and ultraviolet wavelengths are what makes it bright. Scientists have established that infrared waves are beneficial to the human body as they increase the thermal energy in the body, penetrating deep into the skin to help dissolve unwanted substances that have accumulated. Infrared heat revitalizes cells and metabolism and does this without any of the harmful ultraviolet rays of sunlight.

  • The elevation in core body temperature produces an increase in blood flow that mirrors the benefits of a passive cardio workout. Increased circulation from radiant infrared heat reduces inflammation, decreases pain and aids in muscle recovery.

  • Sweating is one of the body’s safest and most natural ways to heal and maintain good health and radiant infrared heat promotes a deep, toxin releasing sweat. Far infrared saunas are believed to be more effective in moving toxins through the skin than traditional saunas because in a far infrared sauna only 80 to 85% of the sweat is water with the non-water portion being cholesterol, fat-soluble toxins, toxic heavy metals, lactic acid, sodium, ammonia and uric acid.

  • Infrared wavelengths stimulates sluggish metabolism and improved fat burning for energy. Increasing core body heat can increase calorie burn, similar to exercise. Infrared saunas also help with the elimination of toxins that cause fat storage

  • Infrared heat therapy raises core body temperature and produces a false fever, which stimulates white blood cell and T-cell production to help fight off viruses. It also stimulates the circulatory system, causing the heart to beat more vigorously, blood vessels to dilate and more oxygen delivered to the body's cells. Better blood circulation means more toxins flow from the cellular level to the skin’s surface to improve cell health and strengthen the immune system.

  • Radiant infrared sauna heat works by penetrating joints, muscles and tissues, increasing circulation and speeding oxygen flow. By reducing inflammation and soreness on nerve endings, infrared heat reduces muscle spasms and helps the body heal itself naturally.

  • Enjoy the euphoria and relaxation from endorphin release, just like after exercising, sweating, or even meditating in the gentle radiant heat will leave you refreshed, providing relaxation to calm your mind.
